It’s been a year now since we first attended our newly-founded Mobile Reading Club.
MRC, as we like to call it, is a Reading Club hosted in School Libraries in Attiki, Greece. Within the last year, MRC traveled from northern Attiki to the eastern region of Vouliagmeni and from the western suburbs of Athens to its center.
Five school libraries hosted a group of teachers, parents and students, but everybody is always welcome as long as they love books and coffee!
Our club is always on the move, like a rolling stone, so it meets new people and aims to initiate a Reading Club in the host-school it visits. We wish to exchange ideas and information on new publications concerning Fiction and Literature, in order to enhance reading and book appreciation in our school units.
MRC’s monthly theme is selected by the host teacher-librarian. Stemming from various sciences, every teacher-librarian gives their unique perspective to the issue of Literature and the conclusions are published in this forum, which is quite a nifty tool for Hellenic School Libraries.
Interesting topics along with a warm group of friends have been reason enough for MRC to roll on to its second year in September 2007.
